About Perla Copernik
I'm a photographer (among other things) and the main reason I became one, more than 30 years ago, is my love for nature and wildlife, also the reason I became a biologist.
As we all know we plan our lives and many times we get sidetracked by destiny, well in all these past years, besides being a photographer, I've been a scientist, a history teacher, a journalist, TV producer, and PR professional, and ironically I have taken more pictures of places, cities, buildings and people than nature...it is just the way things happen.
In the last couple of years I've come to realize that as eclectic as my photographic subjects have come to be there is a common denominator and that is PRESERVATION and RESPECT for everything that surrounds us, whether is an animal, a plant, our history reflected in buildings, temples, cities, ways of life, people's cultures and most importantly our planet and all the living creatures we share it with.
Today I know that I am a conservation photographer, and with my work I want to raise awareness of the importance of preserving all the beauty that surround us not only because without it we would not be able to survive but because above all it is the right thing to do.
